Sue Monk Kidd’s phenomenal debut, The Secret Life of Bees, became a runaway bestseller that is still on the New York Times bestseller list more than two years after its paperback publication. Now, in her luminous new novel, Kidd has woven a transcendent tale that will thrill her legion of fans. Telling the story of Jessie Sullivan — a love story between a woman and a monk, a woman and her husband, and ultimately a woman and her own soul — Kidd charts a journey of awakening and self-discovery illuminated with a brilliance that only a writer of her ability could conjure.

How I got it:

I bought it

When I got it:

I think last year.

Why I want to read it:

I read her book, The Secret Life of Bees, and was just floored. I loved the book so much, that when I saw The Mermaid Chair I knew I had to get it.

  1. I want to read this too! I’d read Secret Life a while ago, and then just read The Invention of Wings with my book group — and that made me want to read all of her books! I picked up a copy of this one just recently, and now need time to read it. I hope you enjoy!

      1. Thats always nice to have that little influence to start something right away. I can’t tell you how many books on my bookshelf are ones that I bought to read and just haven’t yet! Haha. I will definitely have to add The Invention of Wings to my TBR though.
